Beginner – You have never knitted or crocheted before
Advanced beginner – You know how to cast on, knit and purl, bind off and have made a scarf or two
Intermediate – You are proficient in making the knit and purl stitch and can easily cast on and bind off without needing help. You have had enough of making scarves already and are ready to move on.

January QB's project

You will choose a word and depict the word in fabric within a given time limit. I will be making up the words.

Material List
Scissors
Wonder under or Steam a Seam
2-3 or 4 background pieces size 8 x 10" or 9 x 12". Use fabrics without a definite print that have some movement in them. Batiks or hand dyes work well. Do not use white.
Fabric scraps-if you have fabric with the fusible already on it, bring that. Otherwise you will have to apply the fusible at QB's.
Small iron and ironing surface-extension cord

A sense of adventure.

Baby Quilts

Hi Ladies,During this cold weather season the hospitals are so grateful for our baby quilts. Having had our January meeting cancelled, I have no idea how many quilts we will need to meet our February commitment. The January quilts have been delivered.I'd like to encourage you to complete a quilt or kit this month if at all possible. Stay warm and bless you for all the quilts you make.We will have a workshop in February after our meeting.Connie & Jackie

Rochester Area Fiber Artist Show

Just opened at the Arts and Cultural Art Council's Gallery on 277 North Goodman Street, Rochester NY (just behind the Memorial Art Gallery and across from the Village Gate) is an exhibit of contemporary textile works.

The group calls itself RAFA (Rochester Area Fiber Artists), and it is about 50 members that started as the "Art Quilt Group" years ago from some members of GVQC. There are lots of wonderful art quilts to see, and it is a treat to see them installed so beautifully.

Many of the works are by Lake to Lake members, like Caren Betlinski, Caris Burton, Liz Scott, Val Schultz, and Paige Stoep.

The Gallery is opening with this show this month of January. Hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 4:00. A special OPENING will be Saturday, January 17th from 10:00 to 4:00, and a member of RAFA will be on hand to chat. You are also invited to attend the OPENING RECEPTION Friday, January 16th from 5:00 to 8:00.
